What one OEE point is worth, country by country

The same line, the same formula, twenty-two national cost bases. One extra point of OEE frees planned hours; what those hours are worth depends on where the line stands.

In shortOn a two-shift reference line (3,600 planned hours, four operators per shift, 150 kW average load, starting at 60% OEE) one OEE point frees 59 line-hours a year. Priced at 2025 national costs, that is worth €16,433 in Switzerland and €2,652 in Türkiye: a factor of 6.2. The EU-27 average cost base gives €9,962.

How to read the table

  • Cost view. One point of OEE means the same good output in fewer planned hours. The column prices those hours at the national manufacturing labour cost for the crew plus the line’s electricity. It is the right view when the plant is not sold out.
  • Value-added view. If the market takes the extra output, the same point is +1/60 more good output. The column values it at the country’s average manufacturing value added per person employed, for the eight people who staff two shifts. Shown only where Eurostat publishes a like-for-like series.
  • Different bases, flagged. France, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Türkiye use national or differently defined series; each country page states the basis and the date. Non-euro values are converted at 2025 ECB average rates.

Questions

Which country gets the most from one OEE point?
On the cost view, Switzerland: €16,433 a year on the reference line, because labour and electricity are both expensive there. Among EU countries with Eurostat data the top is Denmark at €15,402.
Why is an OEE point worth less in Central and Eastern Europe?
Because the hours it frees are cheaper: manufacturing labour costs €17.1 an hour in Poland against €49.5 in Germany. The gap is closing fast (Polish hourly labour cost rose 29.5% between 2023 and 2025) so the same point is worth more every year.
Is the value per point the same at every OEE level?
No. Each point is a smaller share of what the line already produces: from 60% to 61% saves 1/61 of planned time, from 80% to 81% only 1/81. Lines at low OEE get the most from each point.
